Job Description:

The Technical Trainer/ Course Developer/ (TTCD) works with the Training Manager to develop training content of iDirect products and other third party products. Thirty five percent (35%) of the work will entail course development; forty five percent (45%) of the work will entail training delivery to customers and employee’s world-wide, twenty percent (20%) will involve ordering (to include research), assembly, configuration, and maintenance of training equipment. The position will require up to 25% travel. A typical in-class lecture/training course is a maximum of 40 hours.

Will be responsible for learning new iDirect products and technologies well enough to develop the appropriate lecture/lab material. Typical training deliverables may include an Instructor presentation, a student guide, instructor guide, student lab guide and/or an E-Learning training course or training workbook.

A successful candidate must demonstrate strong training content design, development and delivery skills and should be able to deliver trainings in a proper manner, language, and pace.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and/or update technical training courses for existing or new iDirect products (satellite hubs, routers, line cards, etc.)

  • Perform routine review of training materials and enhance/update as necessary

  • Work with other groups within iDirect, such as the Engineering, Product Verification, TAC and Technical Publications to learn new product features in order to develop the training materials

  • Maintain and deliver high quality of training deliverables in accordance with operation and corporate goals

  • Assist the other Course Developers/Trainers in executing a maintenance plan for the global training network and mobile training network

  • Effectively deliver the product knowledge to the students through in-class training, onsite training, and online training

  • Create training documentation using FrameMaker

  • Create graphics for lecture/lab presentations and E-Learning/virtual training modules

  • Ordering, assembly, configuration, and maintenance of training equipment 

Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from an accredited four year college in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or closely related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience: or equivalent combination of education and experience in technical education

  • Minimum two years of experience in Satellite communications or Telecommunications field, preferably in developing course materials

  • VSAT Systems - 3 years prior experience on iDirect products is preferred 

Technical Skills:

  • Strong background in TCP/IP internet working, routing, switching, VLAN configuration and troubleshooting IP network
  • Understanding of RF/ Satellite communications

  • Expert level of skill on Microsoft Office suite, especially PowerPoint

  • FrameMaker experience and V9 preferred

  • Technical understanding of Virtual Machines is a plus

  • Above average mechanical skills as it related to equipment assembly

  • Good analytical and troubleshooting skills

Other Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Proven training development and delivery skills

  • Proven technical document writing skills

  • Certifications in training development is preferred but not required

  • Ability to travel globally up to 25%

  • Instructional Design experience and Web-Based Course Development experience a plus

  • Exposure to a Learning Management Systems (LMS) and/or Content Management System (CMS)

  • Fluency and ability to deliver trainings in a foreign language is highly desirable and a BIG plus
